“a wonderful memorable truly relaxing holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2011

We had a wonderful 8 days at Pian di Cascina. The directions to find the farm were perfect. The information in the house very helpful. The house was very comfy and had all we needed, equipped with useful and good quality items. Paul and Isabel were very welcoming and extremely helpful, and on hand if we needed any information during the week. The location, up in the Umbrian hills, was really beautiful and peaceful - an ideal place to unwind and slow down. The grounds were pretty and yet not too pretentious and the pool was superb, really refreshing in the heat. This was a holiday that we will not forget and which we will think of often and I hope a place we may return too

Stayed September 2011, traveled as a couple

“The most relaxing destination with fantastic service. A real find!”

Date of review: Nov 17, 2010
I cannot speak highly enough of Pian di Cascina. We arrived there a few days after our wedding to be greeted by a beautiful selection of local treats that our wonderful hosts, Paul & Isabel had arranged for us at the request of my husband - as with the rest of the holiday, they went the extra mile to please their guests.
The villas are beautiful - they have the comforts of home whilst looking out on the wonderful Umbrian hills. To get up every morning to a delivery of fresh bread and croissants was such a treat. The pool is wonderful - the photo on the website is completely accurate – a pool with a view! You can lie in undisturbed silence and enjoy the wonderful scenery.
The food is spectacular, both in the region and the meal we enjoyed at The Tavernetta. Paul & Isabel have put together a comprehensive guide book that we used to plan our holiday. On top of that they would suggest other places to stay and help us with arrangements. It was their helpfulness that sent us home with so many fantastic experiences. We have told all our friends and family to pay Pian di Cascina a visit.
We have enjoyed some wonderful holidays but have never felt the need to return to the same place rather than try somewhere new - however Pian di Cascina is different - we cannot wait to return for more relaxation and exploration.

“I would rate this as one of the best places we have stayed in Italy.”

Date of review: Oct 23, 2010
We will recollect the peaceful ambience of Pian di Cascina as one of Italy's 'special 'places. A home from home comfort with all the convenience of interesting towns and cities to warm the heart as only Italy can.
The excellent swimming pool leisure area provided a welcome break from the many excursiooons available
Paul and Isabel were wonderful hosts . How they cope with fulfilling all the needs of their guests is a lesson in multitasking indeed, but served to make one feel as comfortable and welcome as you could wish.
Why try to find something better when Pian di Cascina ticks all the boxes, How we will remember the sunset over the peaceful valley and the welcome presence of freshly baked bread or croissants in the morning,
Isabel's wonderful quisine and knowledge of ALL the ingredients would put Raymond Blanc to the test. Definitely one to consider and definitely one for a return visit

“Lovely apartments in a beautiful location with a peaceful atmosphere”

Date of review: Sep 20, 2010
We were part of a 'wedding package' and we found the whole experience very 'fairytale'! A lot of thought and preparation had obviously gone into the planning, and it all went very smoothly. The apartments were very clean and comfortable and the location is ideal for exploring. We are actually hoping to return one day to really appreciate the surroundings.

“Fantastic Farmhouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2011

Our family of 5 had a wonderful stay for 3 nights at Pian Di Cascina. Paul & Isabel could not have been any more helpful from the moment we enquired about booking. From driving directions to home made lasagne on our arrival, to a basket of goodies with local produce & a wealth of local information - everything was covered. We had views of the rolling Umbrian hills from every room which were all very clean, spacious & comfortable. The villa had a lovely rustic feel with high quality fittings & furnishings. A large kitchen with a big country dining table made it a joy at mealtimes. The kids couldn't wait to return after each day's sightseeing so they could play volleyball, badminton, table tennis or walk Ollie, the farm's friendly labrador! Our stay was one of the highlights of our driving holiday through Italy & have already recommended it to our friends.

Room Tip: As a family of 5, the Viletta villa was perfect with plenty of space & 2 bathrooms.

“Fabulous hosts, beautiful location and luxurious facilities”

Date of review: Sep 17, 2010
Pian Di Cascina was booked as a relaxing breakaway and surpassed all expectations. The location of the property and the high quality service made our first Umbrian experience one to remember. The thoughtful extras of pastries in the morning to a carefully selected basket of delicious local produce aided our relaxation. Isabel and Paul were truly welcoming and fantastic hosts and went the extra mile to ensure that we had the break we were looking for. We cannot wait to return next year with the children.

“A totally wonderful place to stay”

Everything about our holiday was 1st class. The accomodation and the service provided was the everything you could ask for and the local area provided lots of interesting places to visit. We travelled with our 22 month old and she was very well catered for.As well as the basics required for being away with a toddler there were toys and books provided for her to play with.
We will most definitely be returning.

“Simply the best”

It's not such difficult to find nice houses to rent here and there. But if you are looking for the perfect package, it's another story. Don't watch out any longer, Pian di Cascina ist perfect:
* just a beautifull place
* much much space in the house
* perfect equipement inside the house
* huge and clean pool
* great playground for children and youngsters
* peacefull environnement in the middle of nowhere
I specially appreciated the "sens of detail" that gives you the impression that the whole thing is just made for your pleasure. Great !

“If they can make all 20 of us feel this welcome...”

Date of review: Jul 18, 2010 Marty Wilson
I stayed at this wonderful place with all 20 and a half of my extended family. (my sister has one on the way). There was my mum and dad, my brother and two sisters, all our partners and all our kids. The ever helpful, always cheerful Paul and Isabel made our two weeks an incredibly special time.

The food was wonderful, the location is truly spectacular, the facilities are gorgeous, but what really sets this place apart - in a land full of lovely buildings and beautiful views - are the hosts. Paul and Isabel were just lovely. In fact, their 2 year old son even Ben helped by playing with our 3 year old. Admittedly their newborn, Lucy, couldn't quite join in yet ;) The owners helped out when we crashed our car by negotiating with the locals, they helped my brother get his lost laptop back from his hotel in rome, they even gave us the secret truffle lasagna recipe to make at home. You can't be more welcoming or helpful.

Pian di Cascina is erfect for families, quiet enough for couples, and we could not have been more pleased.

I'm actually writing an article on the place for a magazine "Holidays with Kids" in Australia, and won't hesitate to send it to them when it is published.

Book now, stay here as soon as you can, wonderful, book now, book now, BOOK NOW.

The Bobb Family: Date of Stay: June 2008

From the moment we arrived and watched the kids run down to the pool from our terrace with the Appenine mountains in the background I knew we'd picked the right place in Pian Di Cascina. The pool became a main feature of our stay, lovely and large for the kids but with nice shade for the adults. The apartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped, a cool haven away from the hot part in the middle of the day.Paul & Isabel's local knowledge and fluent Italian helped us plan our stay which included a midblowing 7 course dinner at a local Agriturismo, plus of course local marinated meats which we happily cooked on the barbecues that came with the apartment, washed down with local wines available at a very reasonable cost.
Nothing was too much trouble and the guidebook Paul & Isabel put together would be enough to keep anyone happy. Local restaurants have all been visited and recommended so all those details that can cause concern on holiday were taken care of. Our week was over far too quickly and we're already planning our next visit, hopefully for longer this time. We've so often been disappointed when places don't live up to the pictures and desciptions but Pian Di Cascina isn't one of them, a truly lovely location.

We had a lovely stay at Pian di Cascina, a truly beautiful spot, stunning views and a great location for touring.
The accommodation was top quality and the facilities excellent. Our girls particularly enjoyed the extensive play area and roaming freely in the delightful grounds.
What really made our stay outstanding was your excellent but unobtrusive service, nothing was too much trouble and you really went the extra mile to ensure we had a great holiday. We definitely hope to visit again soon.

5/5 Fantastic accommodation and beautiful surroundings
Botto London.
Date of Stay: September 2008

We stayed at Pian di Cascina in September this year and can't wait to go back! The standard of the accommodation and facilities were excellent - large rooms, fully-equipped kitchen, high-spec bathrooms and each apartment has it's own private outside area with a bbq. They seemed to have thought of everything and were v happy to try to accommodate any additional requests. The location of the property is amazing, with breathtaking views of the mountains and surrounding countryside. Nearby there are loads of places to visit and things to do - pretty medieval towns, lakes, caves, cycling, walking and of course, relaxing by the pool! I would highly recommend staying in this property.

5/5 Excellent Umbrian Getaway
Mandy L Houston, Texas USA.
Date of Stay: April 2007

I loved being away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and having the ability to lay back and relax in the warm sun and look at the beautiful landscapes. I enjoyed having the option to visit numerous historical towns, driving distance away from the property. The owners/staff were very helpful and accommodating of all my needs and requests. The apartment style room was sized generously, was very clean, and was newly furnished. It was excellent for storing food and drinks and it had a friendly family feel to it. The villa also offers wonderfully cooked meals for staying in or there are numerous choices of wonderful Italian restaurants to go to as well. I would highly recommend this property for a week or two getaway for relaxation and sightseeing.

Date of Stay: August 2008

I wish I could have stayed there longer, the beauty of the place, the things to see and to explore around there are much more than what I had expected. We cycled around the areas, where some steep hills challenged us but rewarded us with magnificent panoramas at the top. It is a perfect holiday to combine some sport, some sightseeing and getting a tan!

5/5 On top of the world
CaraCara & Steef State College, PA Centre County USA.
Date of Stay: October 2008

Pian Di Cascina "farm turned luxury villa" is the perfect place to get away from the hum of traffic & to glory in the beauty of Umbria. The accommodation itself is lovely, well-kept, & comfortable, not to mention affordable. The proprietors are friendly & helpful, plus they can create evening meals that are to die for. Our stay was from the middle of October through the first week of November so swimming was out, but hiking was terrific in shirt-sleeve weather. Also, we were fortunate to be there when the olives were being picked on the property & pressed locally. The first pressing of olive oil on Italian bread is a fabulous treat. In addition Perugia was host to the Euro Chocolate Fest & Gubbio & Citta Di Castello (both quite nearby) were hosting truffle fests then. We'd go back in a nanno-second. BTW there is beer on tap (birra a la spina) at Bar Castalda in Casa Castalda just 2 miles down the hill. Thanks, Paul & Isabel as well as Benjamin & Ollie for a great vacation stay. Cheers, Steve, Carol, Peter, Judy, Jim & Becky

5/5 Pian di Cascina Umbrian Paradise
John & Maura London.
Date of Stay: October 2008

We would like to thank the both of you for a wonderful holiday. It had been such a difficult year for us in many ways and we needed to go somewhere that we could unwind and get away from the hurly burly - Pian di Cascina was just the job.

We are regulars to Tuscany so we were so surprised how wonderful Umbria was, less pretentious and in may ways more beautiful.

Pian di Cascina provides everything you need and much more. The standard of the accommodation was fantastic and probably the best place we have ever stayed in Italy.

Well done to you both and thank you for an amazing holiday. We will be booking again for next year.

Best wishes
Maura & John

5/5 Beautiful Umbrian accommodation
graphic artist Southwold Suffolk England.
Date of Stay: May 2008

Wonderful holiday in excellent self catering accommodation set in the most beautiful countryside. Great walking (if you are fit) and fantastic place to relax and enjoy good local food. Car essential but within easy driving of Assisi and Gubbio. Good for couples or families. Swimming pool very cold early in the year but still a great place to relax around on the loungers. Good play area for young children. Gas BBQ supplied and kitchen well equipped for cooking inside and out. High quality linen supplied and accommodation spotlessly clean. The residential English owners provided very good customer service and a comprehensive folder packed with info on walks, restaurants and local shops etc. Have already recommended Pian Di Cascina to serveral friends.

5/5 Holiday May 2007 in La Cantina
Michael P Hampshire.
Date of Stay: May 2007

We stayed in the Cantina, the old wine cellar and were very comfortable. We loved the views from our veranda over the Umbrian hills and enjoyed a barbecue a couple of evenings (with the enormous pieces of steak bought from the local butchers!). We had our 18 month baby with us, and he was quite happy sharing the bedroom with us in the cot provided. He enjoyed shuffling around on a little truck which we borrowed from the owners on the patio. We were also provided with a highchair and utensils. We even borrowed a baby monitor so that we could sit outside without worrying in the evenings.
The property is very well specified and has been finished to a good standard. The bathroom was very nice with a good quality shower.
Parking is fine with just a little walk to get to the property.
The area is very peacefull, and if you like walking or cycling the area is probably ideal. We did day trips out in our hire car to various beautiful old towns, such as Gubbio, in the area, and one day we ventured as far as lake Maggiore.
We hope to go back and stay there again, hopefully in 2009.
