WALKINGWe offer a comprehensive guest book with route descriptions and maps for local walks. There are also several stunning walks, featured in the guest book, in the nearby Monte Cucco National Park.
We are experienced walkers and can offer helpful advice, routes and maps for walkers.
We offer self-guided and guided walks and walking holidays for groups of 6 or more.
CYCLINGWe have 2 cross bikes for hire that are suitable for short rides around the local countryside.
We can help organise bike hire (in nearby Perugia or Assisi)for mountain biking or road cycling.
We offer cycle training weeks for experienced cyclists.

A wide variety of river sports are available in the Cascata delle Marmore area of Umbria. (Near Terni) The Cascade delle Mamore part of a hydro system created by the Romans and is a series of spectacular torrents and waterfalls (one waterfall is 165m – the highest manmade fall in Europe). Guided rafting, tubing, hydro speeding and kayaking are all available. Booking ahead is strongly advised. We are happy to assist you with bookings and enquiries. Not all activities are available year round.
For those not interested in the watersports, there are many interesting walks and walking tours of the falls and rapids for the whole family to enjoy.
HANG GLIDING & PARA GLIDINGIn Monte Cucco National Park there are several world renowned hang gliding sites. Due to the specialised weather conditions/ currents, you can circle above the picturesque valley of Gualdo Tadino and Sigillio for hours. Val di Ranco and La Pianaccia are the best known take off points.
At certain times of the year it is possible for novices to experience a ‘buddy flight’ with a gliding expert. Please ask us for further details.
CAVING & POTHOLINGThe area around Monte Cucco National Park is world famous for caving. You can experience a guided tour through the spectacular caves at Frassasi all year round.
The more adventurous can book (book a week in advance, costs around €40 per person) a speleological tour through the caves of Frassasi. The speleological tour is a 4 hour guided tour through the cave systems yet to be open to the public. Hard hats, torches, wellies and boiler suits are provided – expect to experience tight spaces, some climbing and lots of enclosed dark spaces and be prepared to get wet!
Several times a year the Monte Cucco caves are also open to the public. 3 hour guided tours of the caves yet to be open to the public are offered for a small fee. (Bring your own equipment (sturdy walking shoes or boots, a torch and warm gloves and clothing) and supplies for lunch)
The cave networks are available all year round to experienced cavers. Maps and route plans can be acquired at the National Park Office in Sigillio.
Caving and guided caving is also available at the Cascata delle Marmore, near Terni.
ROCK CLIMBINGThere are several rock climbing routes on offer at the nearby Monte Cucco National Park and at Valsorda, above Gualdo Tadino. You need to be experienced rock climbers and provide your own equipment.
Alternative climbing routes and rock climbing tuition and introduction courses are available at the Cascata delle Marmore, near Terni.
HORSE RIDINGHorse riding/trekking is offered in several beautiful locations around Gubbio and the National Parks. Some riding ability is usually necessary and children need to be over the age of 12 years. We are happy to assist you in booking trekking excursions – please ask us to book in advance of your holiday.
